In keeping with my previous account of the mundanity following my book's launch, the rest of my weekend was primarily spent playing video games. Since my book also concerns video games, I thought "Hey, why not talk about it?"
Contrary to what you might expect from my writings, I tend more towards console gaming than PC gaming. Nintendo in particular has had me hooked since childhood. My first console was a Nintendo 64.
Case in point: Most of my weekend was spent in Splatoon 3. It was the weekend of a Splatfest, after all, and I had to defend my team for the glory of being crowned "Best Taste Sensation" out of Spicy, Sweet, and Sour. Happy to say, we won. Go Team Sweet!
If you're curious as to why I made that team choice, it's because a world without ice cream is not a world worth living in.
Moving on, as is the stereotype of Nintendo, my tastes in games tend toward the somewhat more childish end, one might say. Maybe not "Elmo's Number Adventure" or the like, but beat-em-ups, puzzle games, and simpler RPGs like Pokemon. Shooters in particular are not my thing, Splatoon being an exception. You won't find me playing Halo or Call of Duty or similar games.
For the curious, my favorite game of all-time is "Kid Icarus Uprising". Good Beat-'Em-Up gameplay once you get used to the controls, and the story is a perfect balance of humor and drama for me. The all-star voice cast helps a lot as well.
Preferences aside, I do have a love of gaming. Suppose it makes sense why it plays such a big part in my book, then, even if I didn't put any of the games I love most in there. "Write what you know.", after all!
